Oulu University

Oulu is a cultural and industrial center with a highly developed enterprise technology. Oulu with a population of more than 100 000 people is a university town as well as a lively research center. It has the first Science and Technology Town “Teknopolis”  in the territory of Scandinavia as well as the first Research Center for Medical Sciences and Bioengineering “Medipolis” .

The University of Oulu, founded in 1958, has a deserved place among the largest Finnish educational institutions.  After the University of Turku, the Oulu university is considered to be one of the most influential and prestigious educational institutions of higher education.
Annually the University of Oulu hosts more than 17000 students and the overall educational staff consists of 3000 employees.

There are six faculties in the university which in their turn are located in three main campuses of the university. Apart from this the university also disposes with seven research laboratories that are located separately. Five faculties are located in the main and the biggest campus in Linnamaa.

The University conducts educational cooperation and exchanges with other European institutions of higher education in various countries.  The studies are conducted in Finnish but there are many master programs that are taught exclusively in English.

There are many reasons why  you should prefer the University of Oulu to the other universities: firstly it is one of the most prestigious universities in Finland, secondly it is technically enhanced, and thirdly it has an excellent and qualified educational staff.  The duration of the  studies  for a Bachelor’s degree  is 3-4 academic years,  for a Master’s degree – 2 years,  for a Licentiate – 1-2 – years, etc.
