Currency

The Finnish markka was the Finland’s national currency until the year 2002 but within the framework of European integration euro came to replace the Finnish markka. However if you have your country’s  currency you can always make exchange in Finland’s banks, which operate from 9.15 am to 16.15 on weekdays. Forex currency exchange offices and Tvex are working longer, but the exchange rates may differ. In some places, a passport may be required to make exchange.
All types of debit and credit cards, Visa, Master Card, American Express, are accepted and you are free to use them in hotels, rental cars, stores, restaurants, shops. Even some taxis in Finland are working with plastic cards, but not all, so this should be clarified in advance.

You will find no limitations on the import and export of foreign currency in Finland.
You should also take into account that not all Scandinavian countries are included in the euro area therefore, with very few exceptions, you cannot pay in euro. For example in the neighboring Sweden Swedish Krona is the currency (SEK), in Norway – Norwegian Krone (NOK) and in Denmark – Danish Krone (DKK) but in any of these countries, you almost anywhere can pay by a credit card.
