Jobs in Finland
If you have decided either to live or to study in Finland then you have to apply for a residence permit which will give you the right to stay in Finland.
There are a lot of job opportunities in Finland but in order to work there you should also have a work permit, only work permits granted by the Finnish authorities are entitled to work in Finland. The work or residence permits obtained in other member countries of the European Union are not valid for work in Finland.
If you stay in Finland lasts more than three months, then you will have to apply for a residence permit. Citizens of Nordic countries can stay in Finland without a residence permit and work without work permits. Citizens from the countries of the European Union and European Economic Community (incl. Switzerland), arriving to Finland, do not require a residence permit issued in advance. This also applies to the spouse and children under 21 years of these people but not having the nationality of those countries.

Students
* Students from the EU or Liechtenstein or Switzerland can study in Finland without a residence permit when the studies last less than three months. After this time, they must register their right of living in a police station. The right to reside in Finland for studies is unlimited.
* Students from the Nordic countries (Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland) have to register if their stay in Finland is more than 6 months.
* Requirements for the right of residence for students:
* People who come to Finland with the sole purpose of studying can not apply for scholarships in Finland.
* A student from the EU can also work while studying in Finland and does not need a work permit to do so.
So these are the basic requirements that you should consider in order to work or study in Finland.
